The current ACT has three required sections: English, math, and reading. Science and writing are optional add-ons. Set aside enough time to take the required sections under timed conditions. When you finish, check your answers and review the questions you missed. Grouping those mistakes by cause can help you decide what to practice next.

How to use it

Use the results to decide what to practice next.

Before class

Take an entire timed practice test for the fullest picture. If you cannot do that, test one section at a time; if needed, start with just one timed section.

During review

For every missed question, write down what happened. Did you forget the material, run short on time, misread something, or fall for a tempting answer?

Before test day

Take another practice test and write a short section plan for what to do when time gets tight.

Next step

Want help reviewing the questions you missed?

In class, students work through ACT questions and practice how to handle timing, difficult questions, and common mistakes in each section.
